This presentation will provide an overview of Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)research and development activities applying artificial intelligence (AI) across transportation. Examples include safety analysis, traffic system management and operations, and infrastructure condition assessment. The presentation will place the FHWA efforts in the context of overall industry interests in AI, noting areas of opportunity as well as potential risks.
